TikTok launches guide to counter false content about floods in Pakistan

It connects users with National Disaster Management Authority

(Web Desk) - TikTok has introduced a new search guide aimed at helping users in Pakistan access accurate and verified information during the ongoing monsoon flood season.

As part of the platform’s ongoing efforts to promote user safety and combat misinformation, the guide provides credible resources to counter the spread of false or misleading content related to natural disasters.

Now, when users search for flood-related updates on TikTok, they will see a prominent banner encouraging them to verify information through trusted sources.

The new feature directly connects users with the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), offering real-time, verified updates about floods and other natural emergencies.

In addition to connecting users with NDMA, the guide also links to TikTok’s Safety Center and its Tragic Event Support page. These resources offer practical tools for coping with distressing events, including mental health support and guidelines for responsibly sharing or reporting sensitive content.

The Tragic Event Support guide further defines what qualifies as a tragic event — from natural disasters to personal loss — and provides actionable advice for those affected.

This initiative is part of TikTok’s broader commitment to fostering a safe, informed, and supportive community, especially during times of crisis.
