ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League (N), parliamentary party leader in the Senate and Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Affairs, Senator Irfan Siddiqui on Friday said there was is no political crisis in the country and the state business was functional with all institutions fulfilling their responsibilities as per the constitution and law.
Irfan Siddiqui said politicians in the past such as Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari underwent their jail tenure with perseverance. He said no one enjoyed the unprecedented facilities as being received by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan.
Senator Siddiqui said PTI committed the crime of attacking the defence installations and martyrs' memorials on May 9 and stressed that the culprits needed to be punished.
He pointed out that those received penalties had several forums to lodge their appeals, unlike the cases of Nawaz Sharif which originated and ended in Supreme Court without any appeal or argument.
He blamed Imran Khan for bringing back 40,000 Taliban including TTP, which led to rise in terrorism.
He said the job of handling the matters of foreign affairs rested with the Federal government, and it did not fall into the domain of Khyber Pukhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur.
Instead, the KP CM should keep an eye on the law and order, and corruption worth billions of rupees in his province, Siddiqui added.
He said PTI could not cite a single major public, welfare and development project during its 12-year rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Imran Khan's four-year tenure in the federal government.
