ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Salman Akram Raja has reiterated that the party’s founder remains its undisputed leader, firmly rejecting suggestions of a leadership change.
Speaking to the media, Raja clarified that Shah Mahmood Qureshi is not being considered to lead the party. He added that the founder has entrusted the leadership of the ongoing political movement to Mahmood Achakzai, describing it as peaceful, constitutional and ideological in nature.
‘NO VIOLENCE OR CHAOS’
Raja emphasised the movement's mission to restructure Pakistan and heal national divisions. “There will be no violence or chaos,” he said, highlighting the movement’s peaceful intent.
He expressed concern over the government's treatment of PTI leaders and allies, many of whom, he said, are imprisoned under questionable circumstances.
Highlighting human rights issues, Raja noted that the PTI founder has been incarcerated for over two years and is being tried behind bars. Despite being his legal counsel, Raja said he has not been permitted to meet his client.
“There is no internal conflict within PTI. The situation is often overstated,” he stated.
