PMD predicts more monsoon rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

CM Ali Amin Gandapur directed the district administrations to remain on high alert

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more monsoon rains in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in the coming days.

Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur has directed the district administrations to remain on high alert amid rains and floods.

The chief minister emphasised the need for full preparedness to handle potential risks arising from the expected rains.

He instructed that personnel from police, local government, irrigation, rescue services, and district administrations must ensure their presence in the field.

“All necessary arrangements must be completed to minimise loss of life and property in the event of floods or other natural disasters,” the chief minister stated.

He also stressed the importance of informing tourists in scenic areas about possible weather-related hazards.

CM Gandapur directed authorities to ensure the availability of machinery to quickly clear roads blocked due to landslides.

He also called for a well-coordinated response mechanism among all relevant departments at the district level.

Earlier, at least three tourists were confirmed dead, four injured, and 15 reported missing following devastating floods triggered by heavy rainfall in the Thak Babusar region of Diamer district, Gilgit-Baltistan.

The torrential downpour caused flash floods that swept away eight tourist vehicles and paralysed the area’s road network.

According to government’s spokesperson, worst-hit area is along the Thak-Babusar route, where floodwaters caused widespread destruction.
