CM Gandapur slams horse-trading, warns action against disgruntled party candidates

He remarked that horse-trading in political parties should rather be called "donkey-trading

PESHAWAR (Dunya News) - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur stated that they prevented horse-trading in the Senate elections.

Speaking to the media in Peshawar, he said the party will take action against disgruntled candidates.

The chief minister said that a consultative meeting was held yesterday regarding the elections, emphasizing that doubting in Islam is forbidden, and they did not engage in any action that could raise suspicion.

On a rather satirical note, he remarked that horse-trading in political parties should rather be called "donkey-trading," as a horse is a noble and respectable animal, and he himself is very fond of horses. However, he added that even a donkey is a service-oriented animal.

The KP CM stated that buying and selling in the Senate is an even worse act, which is why they decided there should be no horse-trading in the Senate. He noted that this is the first time in the province's history that such a commendable decision has been made, and they had done the same in the Punjab Senate elections earlier.

Gandapur said they will follow the formula decided by the PTI founder, and as per court orders, elected members for reserved seats are taking their oaths at the Governor’s House.

He further stated that negating the PTI founder’s decision is tantamount to negating Imran Khan himself. The alliance with the opposition is only until the Senate elections, and an agreement was reached with the opposition on a formula of 8 and 3 seats.

The KP CM added that their candidates’ refusal to withdraw nomination papers caused them losses. Now, they have secured 6 seats while the opposition got 5. He emphasized that everything happening is in accordance with the PTI founder’s directives.
