ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The government has decided to install 3,100 additional surveillance cameras in Islamabad to further expand and strengthen the Safe City system.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the Safe City Headquarters where he inaugurated the Online Women Police Station and the "One Info App." He praised the efforts of Islamabad IG Ali Nasir Rizvi and reviewed citywide monitoring on the Safe City’s digital wall.

Naqvi said the "One Info App" will enable the public to lodge emergency complaints and directed that online platforms be made fully functional to ensure swift support for women and vulnerable groups. He highlighted that the app and online police station reflect the use of modern technology.

Chairing a meeting at the headquarters, the minister emphasized that the Safe City project has played a key role in crime prevention and rapid response. He called for making Islamabad a model for security by enhancing the system through artificial intelligence and modern tech.

Naqvi also directed authorities to link Islamabad’s Safe City with similar projects in other provinces, saying that integration would significantly improve data sharing and national security coordination.

During the briefing, IG Islamabad informed that 3,100 cameras are already monitoring the federal capital, and the upcoming phase will double the number. The Safe City cameras have helped solve several high-profile cases, including the Sardar Fahim murder case, and have contributed to a notable drop in the city’s crime rate.
