Pakistan, Azerbaijan vow to enhance strategic ties

Dar and his Azeri counterpart also discussed areas of mutual interest

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar and Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov, on Saturday, reaffirmed the strategic partnership between the two countries.

During a telephonic conversation, they expressed satisfaction over the joint efforts to further strengthen the close and fraternal ties.

They discussed areas of mutual interest and bilateral cooperation, Foreign Office Spokesperson said in a press release.

The two leaders also expressed satisfaction at the active cooperation between the two countries at multilateral fora particularly at the UN and OIC.

A day earlier, Dar spoke with the Minister of State of the UAE, Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh. They discussed ways to further strengthen the Pakistan-UAE ties and enhance bilateral economic cooperation.

On Wednesday, the deputy PM called on Afghan Prime Minister, Mullah Muhammad Hassan Akhund on the sidelines of the signing ceremony for the Framework Agreement on Joint Feasibility Study of the Uzbek-Afghan-Pak (UAP) Railway Corridor.

The two leaders exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, including peace and security, trade and transit cooperation and regional connectivity.

Recalling their earlier meeting on 19 April 2025, they reaffirmed commitment to continued engagement and agreed to maintain high-level contacts to promote bilateral relations.
