Water level in Tarbela Dam reaches alarming stage
Water level in Tarbela Dam has dropped to 1404 feet, just two feet above the dead level of 1402 feet

HARIPUR (Dunya News) - The water storage situation in Tarbela Dam has become alarming, raising concerns over power generation.

According to sources, the closure of nine power generation units has reduced electricity output to just 499 megawatts, despite the dam's total capacity of 4,888 megawatts from 17 units. Currently, eight operational units are generating 499 megawatts of electricity.

Reports indicated that the water level in Tarbela Dam has dropped to a concerning 1,404 feet, just two feet above the dead level of 1,402 feet. With only two feet of usable water storage left, the situation is becoming critical.

Authorities have stated that if the water storage is depleted, the dam’s water release will be adjusted according to new inflows.

Presently, the inflow stands at 14,400 cusecs, while the outflow is 20,000 cusecs.
