LAHORE (Dunya News) - Multan on Sunday became the most polluted city of the country, leaving behind Lahore, with air quality index (AQI) 950 early morning.
The smog situation worsened in the country as northern cities Peshawar, Islamabad and Rawalpindi were also engulfed in smog.
The AQI of Lahore has reached 565, Peshawar 597, Islamabad 254 and Rawalpindi 284.
Dense fog and smog again blanketed several areas in Sindh also on night between Sunday and Monday, paralysing routine life and disrupting road traffic.
The thick fog and smog badly affected the inter city traffic. According to a Motorway spokesperson, the Motorway M2 from Lahore to Bhera, Motorway M3 from Lahore to Darkhana, Motorway M4 from Pindi Bhattian to Multan, Motorway M5 from Multan to Sukkar and Motorway M11 from Lahore to Sialkot have been closed to all kinds of traffic.
The Motorway police have appealed the drivers to drive slowly and switch on fog lights. They have also requested the people to stay home and avoid unnecessary travelling. Smog and fog also disrupted traffic at several places in the province at the National Highway due to low visibility.
