Afghan Supreme Leader issues decree on control, distribution of military weapons

Akhundzada has taken central control over Afghanistan’s military resources.

KABUL (Dunya News) – The Supreme Leader of Afghanistan, Hibatullah Akhundzada, has issued a new decree regarding the distribution and use of military weapons in the country.

According to foreign media reports, Akhundzada has taken central control over Afghanistan’s military resources in response to regional concerns.

The move is aimed at ensuring that weapons left behind by the United States do not fall into unauthorised hands.

The decree limited the powers of Defense Minister Mullah Yaqub and Interior Minister Sirajuddin Haqqani, signaling a push to tighten control over military resources.

It also underscored Akhundzada's intention to stabilise his own power and exert more discipline in managing Afghanistan's military assets.

Reports suggested that the unchecked flow of weapons, particularly in eastern Afghanistan, may have prompted this directive.

In the context of regional security, Akhundzada’s action is seen as a positive step for peace and stability, as it aims to prevent the unauthorised distribution of weapons and strengthen internal security.

This decree not only consolidated Akhundzada’s control but also held regional significance, as it aimed to prevent Afghanistan's military resources from becoming a security threat beyond its borders.
