ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday congratulated the president-elect of the United States of America Donald Trump on his “historic” victory for a second term.
“Congratulations to President-elect Donald Trump on his historic victory for a second term,” the prime minister wrote on his X timeline.
Prime Minister Shehbaz said that he was looking forward to working closely with the incoming Administration to further strengthen and broaden the Pakistan-US partnership.
During a news TV programme, Minister for Defence Khawaja Muhammad Asif stated that Pakistan would continue work for promoting bilateral relations with the United States. He asserted that “the US always works to safeguard its interest. We will also take care of our country’s interests.”
Khawaja Asif hoped that the new US government would take measures for peace in Gaza and Lebanon. Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif also congratulated Donald Trump over winning the US presidential election and expected for betterment in Pakistan-US relations. PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari termed the re-election of Trump an anti-war victory. Bilawal is optimistic about the new administration’s role in resolving global conflicts to bring peace.
Opposition Leader in the National Assembly Omar Ayub Khan also felicitated to Mr Trump and vice president-elect J.D. Vance secured victory in the US election. “It is hoped that this team will foster better relations between the people of Pakistan and the people of the United States of America, " he stated.
