WASHINGTON (Dunya News) - The debate on different preferences and opinions of both genders is echoed around US election 2024.
The female participation was remarkably huge in the last election. Especially, women’s turnout was comparatively observed to be greater than that of the male counterpart in elections of 2020.
According to recent statistics, female voters’ turnout is also expected to be greater in number this year. Their opinion can have serious implications on election results. Male voters often prioritise economic and security issues whereas women voters pay attention towards health, education, and social issues.
The agendas of both parties are crafted in accordance with gender preferences to attract more and more voters.
Total Number of Voters: 159 million Americans voted in 2020 which was the greatest number in history. 138 million voters in 2016 and 129 million voters participated in 2012 elections.
Male Voters: 52 million male voters participated in 2020 which was 50pc. 63 million male voters recorded in 2016 at 60pc and 62 million citizens voted in 2012 making it 59pc.
Female Voters: 57 million female voters participated in 2020 which was 57pc. 75 million women voted whose participation rate was 54pc. Whereas in 2012, 67 million females voted and at 53pc.
Democrat Support
60pc women voters voted for democrats in 2020 whereas 48pc male voters supported democrat’s candidates. 52pc women voters supported democratic candidates in 2016; on the other hand, male participation in voting counted as 51pc respectively.
Women participation observed to be 52pc while male participation in voting seen to be 47pc in 2012.
Republican Support
In 2020, women support for Republicans was 26pc, however, 46pc male voters voted for Republicans.
Women participation in 2016 was 33pc; in contrast, 49pc male candidates vowed their support for the party. 2012 elections saw women voting at 34pc whereas men participation observed around 50pc.
