Punjab government launches 'Green Tractor Scheme' for farmers

1,000 tractors would be distributed free through lucky draw among wheat growers

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Punjab Chief Minister ‘Green Tractor Scheme’ has been launched for farmers in the province.

Digital balloting of the Green Tractor Program had been initiated.

Yaseen son of Muhammad Ashraf from Okara became the first farmer to get a green tractor.

Farmers including Talib Hussain son of Muhammad Hussain from Chakwal and Ghulam Akbar from Dera Ghazi Khan got the tractors as well. As per the project, 339 green tractors would be provided in Okara, 111 in Chakwal and 276 in D.G. Khan.

Under the CM Green Tractor Scheme, a subsidy of Rs 1 million on each tractor was being provided to 9500 farmers.

Punjab CM Maryam Nawaz announced that 1,000 tractors would be distributed free through lucky draw among wheat growers farming on the 25 to 50 acres land.

She vowed that the Punjab government aimed to transition agriculture to innovation and modern mechanisation.

CM reviewed the four types of green tractors and rode on one of the tractors and enjoyed the tractor driving experience.
