Citizens can apply for passport from any city across Pakistan

New rule eliminates previous restriction of registered CNIC address

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The government eased the process of obtaining a passport by amending passport regulations, effectively removing the requirement of address-based issuance.

According to the newly issued memos, citizens can now apply for a passport from any city across Pakistan, eliminating the previous restriction that required applicants to apply only from their registered National Identity Card address.

This change is expected to provide significant relief to nationals who previously faced delays and complications due to jurisdictional limitations.

The updated rules have been communicated to regional passport offices nationwide. Under the new policy, citizens will no longer be confined to applying within specific boundaries, allowing for greater flexibility and accessibility.

The Director General Passports stated that the amendment was introduced to address the difficulties faced by the public. "The citizens will now be eligible to apply for a passport from any city in Pakistan, streamlining the process and improving accessibility across the board", the top official asserted.
