ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The polling for the elections of Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA) began on Monday.
In the elections of SCBA 17 candidates are contesting on five seats.
The polling began on 8 a.m. in the morning which would continue till 5 p.m.
4,021 voters will be casting their votes in the SCBA elections, among them the largest number of voters, 1,414 voters are from Lahore.
For the seat of Bar president Mian Muhammad Rauf Atta of independent group and Munir Ahmed Khan Kakar of professional group are competing each other and Salman Mansoor and Malik Zahid Aslam are contesting for the office of secretary SCBAP.
In these annual polls of SC Bar, for the seat of Vice President Punjab chapter, Rana Bakhtiar and Rana Ghulam Sarwar are contesting.
For Additional Secretary’s post Muhammad Aurangzeb and Zubair Hussain and for the post of Finance secretary Aurangzeb Mir and Chaudhry Tanveer are competing.
These annual elections of Supreme Court Bar Association are of great importance as the judges in SC always give weightage to the opinions of SCBAP’s executive body.
A strong competition is expected between the condidates of independent and professional group.
