ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – The Supreme Court’s first full court meeting under new Chief Justice Yahya Afridi was held on Monday.
The meeting concluded with the participation of all available Supreme Court judges, while Justice Mansoor Ali Shah joined via video link as he is in Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah.
The Supreme Court registrar issued a statement after the meeting which lasted for over two hours. It noted that the meeting reviewed the status of cases, focusing on reducing the backlog and improving case management.
The statement said that the purpose of the full court meeting was to assess the Supreme Court's performance, expedite pending cases, and enhance judicial efficiency. It was agreed that special benches would handle civil and criminal cases.
Additionally, the statement mentioned that Justice Mansoor Ali Shah’s case management system would be implemented for a month, with the next full court meeting scheduled for Dec 2.

Yesterday, the Supreme Court released a cause list for the judicial week for the next week.
In total, the top court would hear 968 cases from October 28 to November 1.
The eight permanent benches of the top court would hear the cases from the next week.

The first bench would be comprised Justice Yahya Afridi and Justice Shahid Bilal Hassan. In this bench, 140 cases are set to be heard.
The second bench would be consisted of Justice Munib Akhtar and Justice Athar Minallah and it would also hear 140 cases.
