Punjab govt launches scholarships programme for students

Scholarships will be awarded to students 50 varsities, benefiting 30,000 students annually

LAHORE (Dunya News) – The Punjab government launched a groundbreaking Rs130 billion scholarship programme for intelligent students across the province.

On the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, information desks were set up in universities to facilitate the process.

Under the scheme, scholarships will be awarded to students in 68 different subjects, benefiting 30,000 students annually. Students from 50 public sector universities across Punjab will be eligible for such scholarships.

The scholarship will cover full tuition fees for undergraduate degree programmes. Eligibility will be determined using 30% of matric and 70% of intermediate marks.

Applicants must be under 22 years of age and have a household income below Rs 300,000 per year. Students doing the MBBS and BDS degrees are also eligible.

Applications can be submitted at honhaarscholarship.punjabhec.gov.pk.

CM Maryam Nawaz said, "Every student in Punjab is like my own child. Scholarships will be granted purely on merit to ensure access to higher education for all deserving students."
