LAHORE (Dunya News) - JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman claims that the three main political parties – PML-N, JUI-F and PPP- have agreed on judicial reforms and are nearing a consensus on other points of the constitutional amendment package, Dunya News reported here on Wednesday night.
Calling the three-party meeting encouraging at the dinner hosted by PML-N supremo Mian Nawaz Sharif at Jati Umra, the JUI-F chief said, “We agree on judicial reforms and are nearing a consensus on other points of the constitutional amendment.
“We want to take all parties onboard for a broader consensus on constitutional amendment package. I will meet PTI’s leaders in Islamabad for consultation on the proposed draft.”
Fazl reiterated his stance, saying his party previously rejected the initial amendment which still stands rejected today.
"If we engage in detailed dialogue on key matters, both the country and the constitution will be safeguarded," he stressed.
BILAWAL BHUTTO
Bilawal Bhutto said he was grateful to Maulana Fazlur Rehman, adding, “There was an agreement between the PPP and JUI-F on constitutional amendment package and today three parties agreed on judicial reforms for the supremacy of the constitution and judiciary.”
"We seek the supremacy of the constitution through constitutional courts and demand swift justice," he said.
The PPP leader further noted, "At an appropriate time, we will ensure the proposed amendment is passed by both Houses of Parliament."
ISHAQ DAR
Ishaq Dar, while speaking to the media, said political parties were making efforts for the betterment of the country. “We have reached a consensus on judicial reforms and we will agree on the other points of the package in coming days,” he said.
The PML-N, PPP and JUI-F sat together on Wednesday night at Jati Umra to forge consensus on the 26th constitutional amendment package before presenting it in both houses of parliament – National Assembly and Senate – for passage.
Among those who were present in the grand dinner-cum-political convergence included PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif, PPP Chairman Asif Ali Zardari, JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rahman, Shehbaz Sharif, Bilawal Bhutto, Maryam Nawaz, Mohsin Naqvi, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Naveed Qamar, Azam Nazir Tarar, Punjab Governor Saleem Haider, Ishaq Dar.
