(Web Desk) - The drama serial ‘Girhein’ is facing backlash for its portrayal of black magic.
Public backlash is growing against the airing of the drama serial Girhein (2024), which centres on an elderly woman practising black magic.
Many social media users voiced their outrage, claiming the show crosses moral and religious boundaries.
They claimed the drama depicts themes that are strictly prohibited in Islam.
Critics argued that the portrayal of black magic not only glorifies a harmful practice but also poses a risk of influencing viewers.
The drama’s explicit depiction of how spells are cast and the consequences that follow has led to calls for an immediate ban.
Advocates for the ban emphasised that such content could have a detrimental effect on society.
They highlighted that it promotes practices that are already a problem in the country.
A user said: “Depicting this is very wrong. You all know that Pakistani women watch these dramas very attentively.
“Don’t promote such things with dramas.”
Another said: “This drama should be banned! Kindly don’t show this already there are so many households which have been ruined due to black magic.”
One commented: “Directors and writers! I think you guys don’t know that it is forbidden to do such things, even in dramas.
“Cancel this drama!”
