High-powered committee's report reveals college student's rape allegations are unfounded

Girl, parents dispel news of alleged rape

LAHORE (Dunya News) - In a case of alleged rape at a private college, it emerged on Tuesday that the girl and her parents dispelled the news as preposterous and baseless. 

A high-level committee formed by the Punjab chief minister visited the girl's house in which a detailed meeting took place. 

A high-level committee meeting was held at the Civil Secretariat.  

The committee also recorded the statements of DIG Operations Faisal Kamran, Director and Principal of college, Gulbarg ASP Sheharbano Naqvi, Security Incharge of college, rescue Officer Shahid and 28 students. 

The first-year student and her parents, who were linked to the alleged rape episode on social media, said in their statement that the girl fell at home on Oct 2 due to which she was first admitted to the General Hospital. 

Later, the girl was shifted to the Brain and Spine Clinic in Cantonment on Oct 3 where she was treated by Dr Sabir Hussain.  With no improvement in her health, the girl was taken to the Ittefaq Hospital in Model Town on Oct 4. 

On Oct 11, the girl was discharged from the hospital, the parents said in their statement. 

Hence, she remained absent from Oct 3 to 15 due to deteriorating health condition. During the same period, her name was linked to the alleged rape. 

The affected girl and her parents clarified that they suffered no such incident and all of the news of its kind was concocted. 

Also, the girl and her parents have requested police to register a case under the Cybercrime Act against those who implicated her in the false incident and take strict legal action.

Punjab Home Secretary, Special Education Secretary, Higher Education Secretary, Additional Home Secretary were included in the committee who visited the girl’s house.
