LAHORE (Dunya News) – October 15, 2024 marks the 13th anniversary of the renowned fiction writer Mansha Yad.
His actual name was Muhammad Mansha, who was born on September 5, 1937, in a village near Hafizabad.
He began his literary journey under the pen name Mansha Yad, with his first short story published in 1955.
Despite the dominance of the progressive movement, Mansha Yad carved out a unique path, believing that stories should be easily understood by readers.
Notable collections of his stories included "Band Muthi Mein Jugnu," "Mas aur Mitti," and "Khala Andar Khala."
He is also known for popular TV dramas such as "Junoon," "Bandhan," "Aawaz," and "Poore Chaand Ki Raat." His Punjabi novel "Tawan Tawan Tara" was adapted into a successful drama series called "Rahein," broadcast on state television.
Mansha Yad founded a branch of the Circle of Literary Friends in Islamabad.
He has received numerous accolades, including the Pride of Performance from the Government of Pakistan in 2004, the Baba Farid Literary Award for Best Punjabi Novel in 2006, and the International Promotion of Literature Award in 2010.
Mansha Yad passed away in Islamabad on October 15, 2011, and was laid to rest there.
