Constitutional court will consist of seven members including chief justice, draft reveals

Govt shared the formula of constitutional court with other political parties

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - As the government is all set to move the constitutional amendment in National Assembly, some important points of the proposed amendment surfaced on Saturday.

The government has shared the formula of federal constitutional court with other political parties as well.

The constitutional court will consist of seven members including the chief justice.

The body would also be represented by the federal law minister, attorney general and a member of Pakistan Bar Council.

Earlier in the day, Special Parliamentary Committee Chairman Khursheed Shah chaired the committee session for debate and consensus of all political parties on the proposed constitutional amendment.

The JUI-F presented its draft on the proposed amendment in the session.

PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that the federal constitutional court was a vision of the Quaid-e-Azam who first gave the idea of that court.

The PPP, he said, was following Quaid’s vision and also opposed the idea of granting powers to a specific court.
