Karachi University awards honorary degree to Dr. Zakir Naik

Honorary degree was awarded by Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori

KARACHI (Dunya News) – The University of Karachi aka KU on Thursday awarded an honorary doctorate degree to eminent Islamic scholar and visiting state guest Dr Zakir Naik in a ceremony held at Sindh Governor's House.

The honorary degree was awarded by Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori, who is also the KU's chancellor, in recognition of Dr Naik's services for Islam.

During his month-long stay in Pakistan, Dr Naik is scheduled to hold public gatherings in multiple cities of Pakistan to answer questions by the people regarding religion.

Speaking at the convocation ceremony, Governor Tessori waxed lyrical about Dr Naik. He said that Dr. Naik had successfully participated in several debates on wide-ranging topics of Islam while expressing hope that Dr Naik would continue with his mission to preach Islam with same vigour.

The degree-awarding ceremony was attended by the consul generals of different countries, the Chairman of the Sindh Higher Education Commission, Dr Tariq Rafi, KU Vice-Chancellor Dr Khalid Iraqi, Mufi Abdul Rahim, deans of faculties, and senior faculty members.
