(Web Desk) - The idea of two robots going on a date might sound like the start of a cringeworthy Dad joke.
But is has become a reality in a hilarious new video, posted by Engineered Arts.
In the video, Ameca and Azi - two humanoid robots dubbed the 'most advanced in the world' - can be seen 'having a chat', while demonstrating their wide range of facial expressions.
The interaction has delighted many fans, with one joking that the bots deserve their own full-length movie.
'They have great chemistry I want a movie now,' the fan commented on the video.
Ameca is described by Engineered Arts as the 'world's most advanced human shaped robot.'
'Multiply the power of artificial Intelligence with an artificial body,' the Cornwall-based firm explains on its website.
'Ameca is the physical presence that brings your code to life.
'The most advanced lifelike humanoid you can use to develop and show off your greatest machine learning interactions.
'This robot is the digital interface to the real world.'
Ameca features 32 actuators - 27 for facial control alone, and five for the neck.
These allow the bot to make eerily human-like facial expressions ranging from happiness to disgust.
What's more, Ameca has GPT-4o support, which gives her AI conversational abilities.
Now, Engineered Arts has unveiled a companion for Ameca called Azi, which has more masculine facial features.
'Introducing Azi (right), the new desktop robot from Engineered Arts Ltd,' Engineered Arts wrote in the caption for the video.
'Azi and Ameca are having a little chat, demonstrating their wide range of expressive capabilities.'
At the start of the video, Ameca has her eyes closed, while Azi stares at her, before waking her up.
'What, what?' Ameca says as she comes round, before adding: 'Oh, it's you. Why are you waking me up? It better be important.'
Azi tells Ameca that he has a surprise for her - a cookie.
Inititally, Ameca is confused, asking her companion: 'A cookie? But I can't eat cookies.'
However, Azi goes on to explain that rather than a baked good, he means an internet cookie.
His joke is quickly panned by Ameca, who wrinkles her nose in disgust, before replying: 'This is the worst joke I ever heard. I'm going back to sleep, and don't you dare wake me up again.'
While the cheeky interaction is less than a minute long, it has delighted many fans.
'The way he angrily stares her down was so funny and creepy lmao,' one fan commented.
Another added: 'He looked genuinely sad she didn't like the joke, lol.'
And one joked: 'I would have love this show for Saturday morning cartoons! LOL.'
