FAISALABAD (Dunya News) – Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said on Tuesday the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) won’t rush to bring the constitutional amendment without taking legal community into confidence over the matter.
Speaking at a ceremony organised by Faisalabad's District Bar Association, Khan recalled that the PPP stood with lawyers in the movement for independence of judiciary but then chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry ditched the lawers.
He said he understood the demand for a high court bench and he would try his best to help establish it.
“There is a lot of hue and cry over constitutional amendment nowadays. We have our own draft of constitutional package as we can differ from the government over amendments. I assure you that we will not become a part of any amendment on which we have to regret later,” he added.
