Punjab merges departments to establish Price Control and Commodities Management Department

A notification regarding the establishment of this new department has been issued.

LAHORE (Web Desk) - The Punjab government has merged the Agriculture, Food, and Industry and Commerce departments to create a new entity named the Price Control and Commodities Management Department.

A notification regarding the establishment of this new department has been issued.

According to the notification, the Punjab Food Authority and the Agriculture Marketing Regulatory Authority would now operate under the new department.

Additionally, the Director General of Commodities, the DG Food, and the Cane Commissioner of Punjab would also be affiliated with this department.

Other roles, including the Director of Agricultural Economics and Marketing, the Director of the Institute of Agricultural Marketing, and the Director of the Consumer Protection Council, would also fall under the new department's jurisdiction.

The notification further stated that the new department would manage wheat procurement, storage, and release. It would also oversee loan management with banks for wheat purchases and would regulate flour and sugar mills.

The Punjab government has appointed Muhammad Ajmal Bhatti as the Secretary of the new department.
