MULTAN (Dunya News) - England cricket team captain Ben Stokes has been ruled out of the first Test match against Pakistan in Multan due to a worsening injury.
Media reports confirmed that Stokes would not be part of the playing XI for the Test starting on October 7.
In his absence, the English team would be led by Ollie Pope.
Stokes sustained a hamstring injury during The Hundred league, which also caused him to miss the Test series against Sri Lanka.
Earlier, the England and Wales Cricket Board had expressed hope that Stokes would participate in the three-match Test series against Pakistan, leading to his inclusion in the squad.
