Adiala Jail officers, warders sacked on murder charges

Jail employees have been found guilty in an inquiry into an inmate's killing

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - Adiala Jail’s officers including 'missing' Deputy Superintendent Muhammad Akram and Assistant Superintendent Riaz Khan, and two warders have been dismissed from service. 

Home Secretary Noorul Amin Mengal has issued a notification od suspension of Adiala Jail’s officials. 

According to sources, Muhammad Akram and Riaz Khan have been removed from office. 

Barrack in-charge warder Nasir Mahmood and warder Amir Abbas also have been removed from their posts after an inquiry. 

Night-duty officer Assistant Superintendent Mahmoodul Hasan and head warder Wajid Mahmood also have been penalised.   

Sources said the action had been taken after these employees had been found guilty in a murder probe.

The Punjab IG Prisons had ordered an inquiry into a murder in Adiala Jail. A deranged person was found dead in a cell on Feb 29. 

Deputy Superintendent Muhamamd Akram and seven other employees were convicted in the light of the murder inquiry. 

The authorities summoned these employees by issuing notices to them on Aug 30. 

The employees appeared in the Director General Directorate of Monitoring and Home Department, but the deputy superintendent remained absent.
