LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Punjab government has enforced Section 144 in Lahore for six days, with the provincial Home Department issuing a notification for its implementation.
According to the notification, all forms of political gatherings, sit-ins, rallies, demonstrations, and related activities will be prohibited under Section 144. This restriction will be in effect from Thursday, October 3, to Tuesday, October 8.
The notification stated that Section 144 has been imposed to maintain law and order and to protect human lives and property, as any public gathering could be a soft target for terrorists due to security threats.
The provincial Home Department noted that the decision to enforce Section 144 was made on the recommendation of the district administration, and large-scale awareness campaigns have been directed to inform the public about the imposition of Section 144.
It is important to note that prior to this notification the Section 144 was imposed in Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Bahawalpur, Mianwali and Faisalabad.The PTI had called for protests in these districts.
It is also noteworthy that PTI has called for a protest at Minar-e-Pakistan on October 5.
