AB de Villiers welcomes Babar Azam's resignation decision

Babar announced his resignation from captaincy of Pakistan's white-ball team

CAPE TOWN (Web Desk) - Former Pakistan cricket team captain Babar Azam's resignation has been positively received by former South African captain AB de Villiers.

In response to Babar Azam's announcement on social media, de Villiers wrote, "Congratulations! You have been amazing, and now you'll score even more runs for your team."

It’s worth noting that Babar Azam announced his resignation from the captaincy of Pakistan's white-ball cricket team on Wednesday.

Babar Azam had continuously been criticised for his poor captaincy record and having no major achievements in the ICC tournaments. His poor red-ball form had escalated the pressure on him to score runs.

BABAR AS CAPTAIN

Babar Azam led Pakistan in 43 One-Day Internationals, of which he won 26 and lost 15 matches. His T20I record as Pakistan skipper saw him win 48 matches out of a total of 85, while the 29-year-old lost on 29 occasions.
