ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Wednesday granted more time to the PTI to submit documents in the intra-party elections case.
A four-member bench, led by ECP Member Nisar Durrani, conducted the hearing. Barrister Gohar, representing PTI, informed the bench that the party approached the court to retrieve the intra-party election record from the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA).
The court sought the records, and PTI requested the FIA to provide the record, assuring the court that once received, they would submit copies to the ECP.
The PTI chairman said that the party requested the FIA to return the documents, and they expect to retrieve them within 10 days. Gohar urged the ECP to extend the deadline for document submission.

The ECP adjourned the case until October 22, providing PTI more time to gather and submit the necessary documents.
Speaking to the media outside the ECP office, Barrister Gohar expressed hope that the commission will recognise PTI’s intra-party elections. He stated that the elections were conducted as per the ECP’s directives and that PTI possesses the records in digital form.
He blamed the FIA for seizing the election records from PTI’s central office and urged the ECP to direct the agency to return them. He added that a court notice has been issued to the FIA, and once the record is retrieved, the case is likely to reach its conclusion by October 22.
He further criticised the judicial transfers. He said that the proposed amendments in the constitution would be a failure.
