Mohammad Rizwan emerges as favourite to captain Pakistan's white ball team

Several former cricketers have also advocated for his leadership of the national team.

LAHORE (Dunya News) - Following star batsman Babar Azam's resignation from captaincy, wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan is being considered as the favorite candidate to lead Pakistan's white ball team.

Sources indicated that high-ranking officials of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) were in agreement on Rizwan's potential captaincy.

Several former cricketers have also advocated for his leadership of the national team.

There is a strong possibility that Mohammad Rizwan will be named captain for the upcoming tour of Australia.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has delegated all captaincy decisions to the selection committee, which will make the final call.

According to sources, the PCB Chairman, white ball head coach Gary Kirsten, and other members of the selection committee are expected to make a decision soon.

Babar Azam announced his decision to step down as captain on social media last night.

Previously, he had also resigned from captaincy across all three formats following the ICC ODI World Cup, but was reinstated as captain of the white ball team in March of this year.

Currently, the Test cricket team is being led by Shan Masood.
