LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Punjab government decided to purchase 76 new vehicles for the ministers, parliamentary secretaries and protocol duties.
The sub-cabinet committee on finance has already approved the purchase of vehicles.
The Punjab Sub-Cabinet Committee on Finance has approved a budget allocation of Rs 209 million for the purchase of 76 new vehicles intended for provincial ministers, parliamentary secretaries, and protocol duties.
According to reports, the new fleet will include 29 Toyota Grandi and Corolla vehicles for the provincial cabinet and parliamentary secretaries costing Rs 619 million. Additionally, Rs 99.6 million will be allocated for 15 protocol vehicles, while Rs. 361 million will be spent on the purchase of two Fortuners for protocol duties.
Furthermore, Rs 209 million were earmarked for the procurement of 30 single-cabin vehicles to ensure the security of provincial ministers.
Another Rs 17.5 million will cover taxes, while Rs 300 million will be reserved for the renovation of existing vehicles.
Sources said that this expenditure has sparked debate about the government’s spending priorities amidst the country’s ongoing economic difficulties.
