ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has denied rumours about presenting of mini-budget for current fiscal year.
FBR Member IR Policy Dr Hamid Attique Sarwar clarified that no mini-budget would be presented although PM approved to impose restrictions on tax evaders or non-filers.
FBR member disclosed that measures were being taken to include retailers in tax-net.
The number of tax-payers had reached to 6 million while 1.5 million non-filers had been sent messages to file their taxes.
FBR warned that there would be no extension in deadline for filing of taxes, income taxes must be paid by September 30.
Non-filers would face restrictions for not filing taxes by deadline. The scope of retailers tier one was being expanded.
FBR member announced that the FBR audit system wasn’t operational and there was a shortage of auditors in FBR.
Appointment of auditors and inspectors on contract basis was under consideration.
Attique Sarwar stated that there was a consideration of appointing auditors from ACCA, ACMA and chartered accountants firms.
There was a suggestion of appointing 4,000 auditors with 400 auditors being appointed in the first phase.
Earlier, there was news circulating in the media about the introduction of a mini-budget by FBR for not collecting target tax.
