Shahzaib Rind receives hero's welcome in Quetta

Rind won the title of ‘Karate Combat World Lightweight Champion’.

QUETTA (Web Desk) - Global Karate League champion, Shahzaib Rind, received a warm and enthusiastic welcome upon his return to Pakistan on Tuesday.

At the Quetta Airport, Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, along with provincial officials and numerous fans, greeted Rind following his success at the Karate Combat Championship.

Rind won the title of ‘Karate Combat World Lightweight Champion’ after defeating all six of his opponents.

After landing, the athlete was escorted to the Chief Minister’s House, where CM Bugti congratulated him on his remarkable achievement and promised the government's full support.

Provincial Minister Bakht Muhammad Kakar and CM’s Advisor on Sports and Youth Affairs Meena Majeed, among others, commended Rind for his remarkable accomplishment.

In his remarks, Rind shared his happiness over the warm reception, contrasting it with the lackluster welcome he experienced in Islamabad.

He recounted facing one of the toughest competitors in his latest match but attributed his victory to determination. He also mentioned the start of his karate journey at a small club and expressed his aspiration to create more opportunities for young athletes.

During a ceremony at the Balochistan University of Information Technology Engineering and Management Sciences, Prime Minister Youth Programme Chairman Rana Mashood Ahmad Khan, hailed Rind as a “national hero,” stating that his victory brought pride to the nation.

He likened Rind to Olympic medalist Arshad Nadeem and mentioned that the prime minister would extend an invitation to him upon his return from the United States.
