Aleem Dar to say goodbye to professional umpiring soon

He plans to withdraw from umpiring after this year to focus his attention on a thalassemia hospital.

LAHORE (Web Desk) - Renowned Pakistani umpire Aleem Dar, who has been part of the ICC Elite Panel in the past, has indicated that he would discontinue professional umpiring after this year.

Aleem Dar officially retired from international umpiring in March 2023 but has continued to officiate in domestic and international league matches. He is currently fulfilling umpiring duties in the ongoing Champions One Day Cup at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad.

He has now hinted that he plans to fully withdraw from umpiring after this year to focus his attention on a thalassemia hospital.

Dar was included in the ICC Elite Panel of Umpires in 2004. He held a unique global record of officiating in 448 international matches, including 145 Tests, 231 ODIs, and 72 T20s.

He has won the Best Umpire award three consecutive times from 2009 to 2011.

Furthermore he has the distinguished honour of umpiring in five ICC Cricket World Cups, seven T20 World Cups, and five ICC Champions Trophy tournaments.

Known for his impartiality and accurate decisions, Aleem Dar is highly respected in the cricketing world.
