No truth to appointment of VCs in universities of Punjab

Governor hasn't signed any summary for appointment of VCs

LAHORE (Dunya News) - The Punjab Governor House has dismissed the rumours of appointment of VC in any university of Punjab province.

Governor House sources disclosed that Punjab Governor hadn’t approved the appointment of any VC and there was no truth to news circulating about this matter.

Governor had summaries for appointment of VCs for 13 universities but he hadn’t signed any summary yet.

Earlier, notifications for appointment of VCs in various universities of Punjab were issued 1.5 years ago.

Tensions escalated between Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan and the provincial government over the issue of appointing vice-chancellors (VCs) of the universities in Punjab.

Sources revealed that Governor Haider rejected all 13 summaries forwarded for the appointment of VCs, citing reasons for each rejection in a detailed response to the provincial government.

This move follows the provincial government's recent appointment of VCs at seven universities. The Punjab government justified that the mandatory 14-day review period was over.

The discord comes just a day after the provincial government appointed vice-chancellors for prominent institutions, including Punjab University, University of Gujrat, and Bahauddin Zakariya University and some others.
