Passport backlog, printing issues resolved in major cities, says DG

Says focus is now shifting to smaller cities after clearing major urban centers

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Directorate General of Immigration and Passports, Mustafa Jamal Qazi, announced that the backlog of passport issuance in the major cities of Pakistan has been cleared.

In a statement, the DG expressed gratitude to citizens for their cooperation with the passport offices, acknowledging delays due to limited printing resources. He explained that while 65,000 passports were processed daily, only 23,000 could be printed.

However, new printers are expected to arrive within a month, normalizing the issuance process.

Priority was given to those with frequent international travel.

The blockages for online applications from overseas Pakistanis have also been resolved, with over 24,000 passports delivered. Focus is now shifting to smaller cities after clearing major urban centers.

He further noted that delays were also caused by the ongoing office revamping process, and a new dashboard system is being implemented alongside the upgraded printing facilities.
