Babar Azam, Jahandad Khan and Mehran Mumtaz guide Stallions to dominating win

FAISALABAD (Dunya News) – A splendid bowling performance helped Stallions secure a dominating win as they defeated Dolphins by 174 runs in seventh match of the Champions One-Day Cup at Iqbal Stadium, Faisalabad, on Thursday.

In pursuit of 272-run target, Dolphins were bowled out for 90 in 25 overs as Jahandad Khan and Mehran Mumtaz showed magic with the ball and claimed three wickets each. Abrar Ahmed and Haris Rauf took two wickets each, dismantling the opponent team’s batting lineup.

Sahibzada Farhan remained top scorer with 32 runs while Asif Ali made 21 as no other batter could face the fiery bowling spells for long.

Earlier, an unbeaten ton by Babar Azam helped Stallions set a target of 272 runs for Dolphins. After electing to bat first, the Stallions’ start was strong with Shan Masood (34) and Yasir Khan (46) building a partnership of 76 runs.

After their dismissal, Babar Azam and Tayyab Tahir stitched a partnership of 57 before the pair was broken apart by Qasim Akram.

Azam smashed 104 off 100 balls while Hussain Talat made 23 runs.

A day earlier, a brilliant century from Kamran Ghulam, all-round heroics by Salman Ali Agha and a vital half-century by skipper Mohammad Rizwan helped the Markhors beat Dolphins by 92 runs in the sixth match of the tournament.

Markhors have now won three out of three matches they have played and are sitting at the top of the points table while Dolphins are winless after two games, occupying the bottom of the table.
