Law Minister Azam Tarar denies reports of holding press conference with allies

Hold conference with along with bar councils’ representatives.

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Federal Minister for Law Azam Nazeer Tarar has dismissed the rumours of holding a press conference with allies.

He asserted that there was no decision made on holding a press conference with allies. He stressed that bar councils were stakeholders and they would take into confidence.

Law minister would announce a clear stance of the government on constitutional amendment in the bar council's session.

Azam Nazeer said he would hold a conference in the media along with bar councils’ representatives.

The decision has been taken to interact with the bar associations in the wake of lawyers’ bodies' opposition to the proposed constitutional amendment.

The incumbent coalition government is all set to present a constitutional bill that aims to introduce reforms in judiciary including setting up constitutional courts, increasing the number of judges in the Supreme Court and extending the retirement age of higher court judges.

But the government has no support of two third majority in both houses of Parliament and it has been wooing JUI-F President Fazlur Rehman to get the desired number of votes required for approval of the bill.
