LAHORE (Dunya News) - PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has admitted that the coalition government does not have two-thirds majority to get the constitutional amendment bill passed in the National Assembly.
Talking to a TV channel, the PPP leader said, “Constitutional package needs consensus. In the past, PPP and JUI-F collaborated in legislation process.
“Now, if we reach a consensus on the issue, the government will be able to get the constitutional amendment bill passed in the National Assembly.”
“When I met Maulana for the first time in connection with the bill, he has huge reservations against constitutional package.
“My party also had 20 to 25 percent reservations which were later removed by the government,” Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said, adding the JUI's proposal was unique that a separate committee should be formed for the appointment of judges.
“We had also agreed to this proposal of JUI, we had understanding that the government and Maulana Fazlur Rehman were on board,” the PPP leader said.
