ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb, while hearing a petition to not give permission to the PTI for protest, gave remarks that no stone had been left unturned to make Pakistan a banana republic.
At the start of hearing, the PTI counsel said "we submitted our request on July 22 to hold a protest on 26th.
Justice Aurangzeb inquired the state counsel that on which decision of yours was the contempt of court filed? The state counsel responded that "we have passed two orders stating that no protest would be held before Aug 20."
Replying to this, Justice Aurangzeb remarked that this does not qualify for case of contempt of court.
During the hearing, Justice Aurangzeb gave significant remarks. He said the blockage of Faizabad caused a significant loss to public and there should be a complete ban on protests at D-Chowk.
He further inquired how many people died in ambulances due to road blockage during the previous Faizabad sit-in. He remarked that if the government party would ask for a permission the administration would allowe them so easily.
He further remarked that no stone had been left unturned in making Pakistan a banana republic.
The state counsel told the court that the PTI had been provided an approval for a public protest on Aug 22.
The PTI counsel told the court that "our request is regarding staging a protest in front of the press club, not for a public rally. A separate case regarding public rally is also pending with the court of Islamabad High Court chief justice.
Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb remarked that this evolving situation was exactly the reason why people are not coming to Pakistan.
“This is a case of contempt of court. The court will not allow any public gathering approval through this petition. The court will restrict to observing whether contempt of court happened or not,” he said.
