LAHORE (Dunya News) – Famous anchorperson Ayesha Jahanzeb's husband has been arrested by police on the charges of torture and domestic violence.
She lodged a case against her husband on allegations of abuse at the Sarwar Road police station.
Ayesha alleged that she had been tortured thrice by her husband in the last one year.
Badly bruised, she said she had now sought a legal course for the safety of her children and herself. She said she wanted justice.
On her request, police took swift action, leading to Haris' arrest. Following his arrest, Haris was produced before a judicial magistrate who approved his physical remand for two days.
Ayesha has initiated a legal battle against her husband and is determined to seek justice for the physical abuse she endured.
The case has brought to light the serious issue of domestic violence, sparking discussion about the protection of victims.
CM Maryam takes notice
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz took notice of Ayesha Jahanzeb's torture incident.
"Women are my redline, any kind of torture on working or household women is unacceptable to me," she said.
She directed the police authorities to submit a report and ensure Ayesha's best possible treatment.
