CM Maryam announces solar panels amid exorbitant electricity bills

The solar panels would be given to millions of people using 50 to 500 electricity units

LAHORE - Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Monday announced a good news for people facing exorbitant electricity bills. The chief minister announced solar panels for the people of Punjab who consume up to 500 electricity units in a month.

The cabinet meeting has also been called for Tuesday (tomorrow) to give approval to the ‘Roshan Gharana’ project.

The citizens would be provided solar panels under the project.

The solar panels would be given to millions of people using 50 to 500 electricity units per month. The 90% cost would be paid by the Punjab government while remaining 10% would be paid by the consumer.

The solar panels would be provided on five-year easy installments to consumers.

The ‘Roshan Gharana’ project was started to give relief to the masses keeping in view the high cost of electricity and prevailing energy crisis in the country.

“We’ll not leave our people alone in this difficult time,” said the chief minister.

She said that poor families would be provided the solar panels in the first phase.

We are trying hard to save our people from the effects of destruction that we witnessed in the past, she added.

“The people will not face such a situation after the completion of this government after five years,” said CM Maryam Nawaz.
