(Web Desk) - YouTube has rolled out an updated eraser tool that will enable creators to easily remove any copyrighted music from their videos.
Creators could remove copyrighted music without impacting any other audio such as dialog or sound effects in the videos.
YouTube chief Neal Mohan posted about the tool on X and said, “Good news, creators: our updated Erase Song tool helps you easily remove copyright-claimed music from your video (while leaving the rest of your audio intact).”
Google’s video streaming giant, YouTube clarified that it had been testing the eraser tool for a while, but it wasn’t as accurate in removing a copyrighted song.
Meanwhile, YouTube’s new tool specifically detects and removes the copyrighted sounds using an AI-powered algorithm without affecting other audio in the clip.
However, YouTube warns about the algorithm's inability to remove just the song at times.
“This edit might not work if the song is hard to remove. If this tool doesn’t successfully remove the claim on a video, you can try other editing options, such as muting all sound in the claimed segments or trimming out the claimed segments,” the company said.
In case of copyright concerns, creators can mute the sound in specific parts of their video instead of cutting them out entirely. This fixes the copyright claim flag by YouTube's system that automatically detects copyrighted material.
