IMF wants increase in the electricity and gas prices by July 10 next month

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - A day after the National Assembly passed the federal budget, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) has once again demanded ‘do more’ from Pakistan. 

According to the sources of finance ministry, the IMF wants increase in the electricity and gas prices by July 10 next month.

“The IMF has demanded immediate implementation of the decision made by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) to raise the price of electricity,” said the sources of finance ministry.

The sources added that the IMF wants cut in the subsidy of gas during the new fiscal year.

A high-level delegation of IMF is likely to visit Pakistan during the second week of July.

Meanwhile, the IMF has already praised Pakistan for making tough decisions in the budget 2024-25.
