ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) incumbent federal government has allotted its share of standing committees to its allies including Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and Muttahida Qaumi Movement Pakistan (MQM-P).
According to parliamentary sources, PML-N was due to hold the share of 13 standing committees while PPP of 9 as per quota.
However, PPP has acquired the presidency of 11 standing committees.
PPP has been successful in clinching the chairmanship of key standing committees including treasury, communication and foreign affairs.
However MQM-P has gotten the share of four instead of two standing committees.
According to sources, parties with one seat also got the presidency of the standing committee that included Khalid Magsi of Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) and National Party’s Pullain Baloch will be the chairman of the standing committees.
PML-N will appoint its neglected members as parliamentary secretaries.
Parliamentary sources revealed that allied parties demanded the key committees’ chairmanship for support in budget approval.
The demands of all allied parties have been met with the approval of the PM.
