Sheikh Rashid slams ruling PML-N for burdening masses with more taxes

Ex-minister accuses PM Shehbaz of favouring industrialists instead of providing relief to common man

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Former interior minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed came down hard on the ruling PML-N on Monday, stating that it had burdened the common Pakistani, who were finding it hard to pay electricity bills and school fees for their children, with taxes of billions of rupees.

Speaking to a group of reporters after Eid prayers in Rawalpindi, the Awami Muslim League (AML) chief accused Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif of favouring industrialists instead of providing relief to the masses.

Rashid lamented the unresolved national issues and remarked that the current government had brought chaos upon the country.

Rashid announced his decision to abstain from politics until August 30, and added that the time for negotiations for the government had passed.

He emphasised the necessity for all stakeholders to come together in larger national interest.

Rashid also extended Eidul Azha greetings to the entire nation, including the people of Palestine and Kashmir.
