India qualify for Super Eights after nail-biting win over USA

uryakumar Yadav and Shivam Dube’s thrilling performance guided India to seven-wicket victory

NEW YORK (Dunya News) – India have qualified for the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup 2024 after defeating the USA by seven wickets in a group stage match in New York on Wednesday.

Suryakumar Yadav’s timely fifty and Shivam Dube’s 31 guided the Blue Team to book berth in the next round after the top three wickets were lost by India in quick session.

Virat Kohli was removed for duck while Rohit Sharma dismissed for three as the US bowlers dominate at the crispy pitch in the start. Rishab Pant tried to get the team out of the pressure but he was sent packing at 18 by Ali Khan.

India achieved the target of 110 runs with ten balls spare to play.

Earlier, India won the toss and put the co-hosts to bat first. From the USA, Steven Taylor made 24 runs while Nitish Kumar scored 27.

Australia have also marched into the Super Eights of the T20 World Cup with a nine-wicket demolition of Namibia at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Tuesday.

Adam Zampa led the rout of an outclassed Namibia with figures of 4-12, becoming the first Australian man to reach 100 T20I wickets.

The southern Africans were bundled out for just 72 off 17 overs after batting first.
