ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Islamabad High Court on Tuesday allowed electronic media for court reporting in light of Supreme Court's ruling.
Islamabad High Court Chief Justice Aamir Farooq heard the petitions of court reporters and journalist organizations against PEMRA notification banning court reporting in electronic media.
The application of Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) against the PEMRA notification was also heard together. High Court Bar President Riasat Ali Azad and Adil Aziz Qazi appeared in the court on behalf of the petitioners.
Chief Justice Amir Farooq said the electronic media could report according to guidelines given in the Supreme Court decision.
Riasat Ali Azad said now court could adjourn hearing of the case as per its will. Later, the Islamabad High Court accepted the adjournment request by PEMRA and put off the hearing.
It should be noted that the Islamabad High Court Journalists Association and the Press Association of the Supreme Court had challenged the PEMRA notification in the court.
